A chipmunk set off a home burglary alarm on Sunday, March 7, at a home in Brighton, Michigan, according to Michigan State Police. A police trooper was dispatched to the home just after 8:00 a.m. to check the outside of the premises.
The trooper said she noticed the movement of a small furry animal moving around inside the home. Upon returning home, the homeowner told the trooper that there weren't any pets in the house and let her inside to look around.
The trooper found the chipmunk under a dining room table. The chipmunk was finally caught in a towel and released outside where it belonged. The burglar chipmunk got a light sentence, and a happy ending was had by all.
